I was wondering who decorates the reception venue, church etc..? Does a wedding planner do these things? Also who do you talk to about the table settings, decorations, plates, chairs, table clothes, all that stuff? I live in Iowa, the town is only like 26,000 people, that might affect things.

wedding planners get paid to do that.. the florist puts together all the table and alter flowers and gets it all set for you. caterers and venues sometimes help with it. for smaller weddings, it’s the bride’s maids and bride’s family, and they do the cleanup too.
check with the venue, if it’s with the cost of the wedding and reception. if not, then contract with someone specifically, or assign it to friends, etc. make sure it’s taken care of so you aren’t charged more for any of it, or have to be doing yourself a half hour before the service!
A wedding planner does most of those things, but being in a small city you can enlist family and friends to do the decorating and such for you.Your florist or cake decorator can give you suggestions also. Also look in bridal magazines for ideas of what you like for these items.
It depends on where you have your wedding. Some places are full-service meaning they will take care of all of that for you. If you don’t have your wedding some place like that you will have to take care of it yourself or find somebody else to do it for you. You can find some of the things you need at party supply stores.
If you hire a wedding planner all you will have to do is make decisions of different choices they show you. They should take care off all the decorations and table settings. That is if you are renting a hall. If you go with another venue who serves food they have their place settings and table clothes you can choose. Other decorations will have to be provided by you.
Your florist sets up the church and the planner over sees the reception decor.
