It used to be that the entire bridal party sat together at the reception, but these days, most brides and grooms opt for a “sweetheart” table at their reception. Whatever you decide, this is a special table and should be treated as such. You could decide to have special floral arrangements created for this table or a colored table linen that complements your bridal party colors. Include wedding pictures of your parents’ and grandparents’ at their head table to create a really special, personal affect.

Some reception sites may have special chairs that can be used at this table to draw everyone’s attention. Most places would be happy to accommodate your bringing your own special seating if you have it. If the seating at your location is the same, talk to your florist about doing something special to the seating, perhaps with floral vines or fabric to make them stand out. If you have chosen to include columns during your ceremony, this is a great opportunity to reuse them to frame out the new bride and groom.

Teak Table Sets and the Greek Gods

After the powerful Zeus hurled down Cronus and the Titans, he settled upon Mount Olympus to live with Hera and his children and guard over the universe. Hephaestus, one of Hera’s sons, being a very giving god, gave the mortals one of their own teak tables and taught them how to find the enchanted teakwood that possesses magical properties that can withstand extreme weather conditions and fungal attacks; so magical was teakwood that it becomes more beautiful and splendid over the years.

Zeus, the king of the gods, was well known for his womanizing. He often gave gifts and powers to the ladies he admired and would also invite them for dinner in his glorious teak table sets. The mighty Zeus liked teak tables so much because of its strength and durability he often gave these teak table sets as a gift to mortals and other gods who did favors for him. Athena, one of Zeus’ daughters and also the goddess of wisdom, furnished her temple, the Parthenon, with these gracious teak tables. Her Oracle and prophets often met and gave prophecies in these fantastic teak table sets.

Another son of Zeus is Dionysius, the god of wine and festivals, who often partied on teak dining sets with both mortals and immortals. Apollo, the god of music, medicine, poetry, and prophecies, often wrote in teak tables of his poems and prophecies.

Choosing The Right Dining Table

Eating together is an important family ritual; it creates connections between family members and has been shown to improve students’ grades and reduce unruly behaviors in children. Even consider putting in some paper cut outs with unique art or design in the door panels.
