I’m getting married on january 3rd in a big country house, I’m keeping all the christmas decorations up and would love to incorporate a christmas theme into the table decorations and maybe the cake and things too – but don’t want it to end up looking like a grotto gone bad!

I just don’t think Christmas for after New Years. But to go with the country house thing, I think Holly, red, and ivory, in a very country style, that way it’s not too Christmassy.
keep the theme more neutral by using white, cream, and ice blue, and use white christmas lights. You can have a Christmas tree, but again, use white, cream, ice blue to keep it wintry, yet still Christmasy, without looking like a red and green explosion.
cakes- nothing over the top, just incorporate the colors in a bit

or glass vases, filled with water, stones on the bottom, a red flower in the water and float a white candle on top
I’d go with a white and red theme instead of the traditional green and red colors of Christmas. You can also throw in some slight accents of gold and silver.
White and red Poinsettias would make beautiful table decorations! I’d keep any Christmas lights clear, instead of colored. It would make it much more elegant. You can buy clear glass Christmas ornaments and fill them with potpourri and ribbons.
Foods and drinks you could serve:Turkey, ham, fancy looking Christmas cookies, eggnog, holiday punch, etc.
I would love to have a Christmas wedding! It sounds like a lot of fun!
Good luck.
Instead of Christmas-y, Why not go for just a more natural winter theme, like frost, glittering snow, snow flakes. Stick with colors like light blues, light purples, soft grays. Decorate with twinkling lights, even the fake snow that will be on sale for after X-mas sales, and your cake could be decorated with snowflake patterns or icicles. Invitations would be easy too.
I think that it’s a bit far from Christmas to have a Christmas theme, but that’s just personally me.
Since it’s actually after Christmas, I wouldn’t go with the traditional red and green. Do red and white or blue and white, or similar colors.
Just don’t go overboard on the Christmas stuff. People will be sick of thinking about Christmas by Jan. 3rd!
We got married two days before Christmas, so our wedding was very Christmas-y without being cheesy.
My bridesmaids carried white fur muffs decorated with holly instead of bouquets. Our cake was three square layers made to look like gifts, and instead of a cake topper, we had a huge red bow on top. Our centerpieces were just candleholders with floating red candles, surrounded by holly. Our wedding favors were Christmas ornaments with our names and wedding date on them. The church was decorated with poinsettias and two Christmas trees, and the reception hall had wreaths and a 15 foot Christmas tree.
On January 3, you might want to focus a bit more on a “winter” theme and less on a Christmas theme. You can use the same colors, but use a lot of snowflakes in your decorating instead of using things that are strictly “Christmas” themed.
To be honest, I would try and stay away from too much Christmas stuff as it is after Christams and New Years. You dont want it to look like you were too cheap to decorate so you kept up the Christmas stuff. I would go with more of a winter theme instead.
I would go with the red and white decorations of Christmas…take down the Santa’s and the Merry Christmas signs or ornaments…but a red and white tree, a ton if tiny white lights every where and lots of holly! That could be fantastic! Also, Hobby Lobby carries this stuff around the holidays that look like little limbs with red berries on them covered in ice…now that would be a great table decoration. I love the Christmasy idea…it makes the heart so happy, and then to top it off with a wedding I think it will be special. But since it is after Jan 1 I would be sure anything with the words Christmas or any Santa’s were gone. Lots of red and white! Maybe some silver and gold too?
keep decorations simple, you could go for tall, frosted vases of glittery, twisted twigs as table centerpieces. The cake you could keep simple, too perhaps a hint of edible glitter and some contrasting ribbon in your colours. You could also combine small, plain fairy lights twisted between some evergreen foliage to decorate the top table etc.
