generally you would sand blast one side or acid etch. ie. the bottom of the glass table.
problem is that the etched suface will show oily finger prints and now its harder to clean as the glass has now becomes abrasive. i have found a film (sign) company that makes frosted or etched film to look like the glass. that should work as it is a smooth surface. we use it as a look alike you might say, and inexpensive. possibly quick signs or another company in that area of sign work
Home Depot and Lowe’s sell cans of frost paint that I have personally used on my bathroom windows. It’s very durable, easy to use and if you do not like the results, you can clean or scrape it off easily.
If the table top is tempered, and most of them are for safety reasons, any sandblasting or etching might compromise its strength and cause it to shatter. The adhesive window covering from a home improvement center might do the job if you adhere it to the underside of the glass. It’s not going to prevent fingerprints, but they might not be as obvious.
Hi,
I’ve been using “Service Magic” to get quotes for my budget purposes. They also provide a lot of info on “How to do it”. It’s free. Check it out here: http://servicemagic.ebeezz.com

The best thing to do is put a tablecloth.
Lots of items at the below link for etching and frosting glass. Good luck!
